Mentoring With Didier

Practical support grounded in experience, training and lived understanding.

LifeTrail mentoring offers practical one-on-one support for people seeking clarity, confidence, direction, routine or a steady next step.

Sessions are available online by video, by phone, in person in Denmark WA, or outdoors where appropriate.

This is private mentoring with Didier. It is separate from NDIS support, counselling and therapy.

Grounded, experienced support

LifeTrail mentoring is not casual advice, coaching hype or a short-course support offer.

Didier brings around 20 years of mentoring, assessment and support experience across youth, disability, community and outdoor settings. His background includes a respected TAFE qualification in residential and community care with children and young people, current LifeTrail insurance, outdoor leadership experience, and lived experience of personal change.

The approach is practical, boundaried and human.

Who mentoring may suit

Mentoring may suit people who are:

* feeling stuck, overwhelmed or uncertain
* rebuilding confidence
* struggling with routine, motivation or follow-through
* navigating life change, burnout or transition
* needing a steady person to talk things through with
* more comfortable talking while walking or doing something practical
* wanting support that is not therapy, but still grounded and experienced
* unsure whether mentoring, hiking or another LifeTrail service is the right starting point

You do not need to have everything worked out before making contact.

What mentoring can help with

Mentoring sessions may support:

* confidence and self-belief
* decision-making
* routine and structure
* motivation
* overwhelm
* communication and boundaries
* personal goals
* life transitions
* reconnecting with walking or nature
* preparing for a personal challenge
* taking the next useful step

This is not about fixing people. It is about helping people understand where they are, what may be getting in the way, and what step makes sense next.

How sessions work

Sessions are one-on-one and practical.

They may take place:

* online by video
* by phone
* in person in Denmark WA
* outdoors or while walking, where suitable

For now, mentoring sessions are available in limited weekly times, usually including one weekday morning and one evening option.

First-time bookings are personally reviewed before being confirmed. This helps make sure the session is appropriate, safe and a good fit.

Mentoring, not therapy

LifeTrail mentoring is not counselling, psychology or clinical treatment.

It does not diagnose, treat mental health conditions or replace support from a qualified health professional.

The role of mentoring is different. It provides practical, relational support to help people think clearly, build confidence, create structure, make decisions and take useful next steps.

For some people, mentoring may work well alongside therapy or other professional support. For others, it offers a less formal way to begin moving forward when they do not need a clinical service.

If clinical, medical or crisis support is needed, LifeTrail will encourage the person to seek appropriate professional help.

Why work with Didier?

Didier has worked with people in mentoring, assessment and support roles for around 20 years, including youth, disability, community services and outdoor settings.

His foundation includes a respected TAFE qualification in residential and community care with children and young people, along with years of practical experience supporting people in real situations.

Didier is also insured for the work he does through LifeTrail.

His own lived experience of burnout, life transition and rebuilding through walking informs the way he works. It does not replace professional boundaries or practical experience, but it helps him understand that change is rarely neat, quick or simple.

Mentoring with Didier is practical, honest and grounded.

“Didier was really helpful in filling in some holes I had in planning my Bibbulmun Track end to end. He loves hiking, understands the practical as well as internal elements that go with it, and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience. He listens, and is genuinely helpful and supportive without ever straying into the know-it-all territory that sometimes comes with guides — he is down to earth and wants you to have YOUR experience, not just listen to his.”

— Kate — Solo hike 1000 km on the Bibbulmun Track

“When my time with Didier started I spent a lot of time at home, not wanting to go out, feeling incredibly anxious at just the thought of going out to do anything. I wasn’t achieving any goals that would have helped me to find a job and do what I want with my life, but, after such little time I was leaving my comfort zone to volunteer. While it was initially a scary concept, talking to people I am now a lot more confident in myself and I’ve even started studying full time.”

I completed a solo beginners overnight trail with Didier along the beautiful Murray River. It was a great introduction to overnight hiking and Didier was very friendly and easy to ask questions about hiking along the Bibbulmun and hiking in general. I now feel a lot more confident in completing some more longer hikes on my own. I would highly recommend.
