Accessible and NDIS Private Hikes - Denmark WA
Private guided hiking for NDIS and self-funded participants, families and visitors who want a calm, supported way to experience the trails around Denmark, Walpole and the Great Southern.
Calm, Safe, and Supported Nature Experiences on the Wilderness Coast
Nature has a beautiful way of grounding us, but exploring new trails can sometimes feel uncertain if you or a family member have specific physical, sensory, or neurodivergent support needs.
When you are visiting Denmark, Walpole, or the wider Great Southern region on holiday, I want you to experience the beauty of our ancient forests and pristine coastline with complete peace of mind.
My private guided hikes are fully flexible and purposefully adapted for NDIS participants, families, and individuals who require a supportive, paced, and understanding environment. I handle all the trail logistics, safety boundaries, and pacing, allowing you to simply connect with the sights, sounds, and calming energy of the natural world.
Private hiking, with the right support around it
For some people, hiking is not about distance, speed or achievement.
It might be about getting out of the house.
Trying something new while on holiday.
Building confidence on uneven ground.
Spending time in the forest without feeling rushed.
Sharing a meaningful experience as a family.
Having someone calm and experienced guide the way.
A private hike gives us room to shape the experience around the person, rather than expecting the person to fit into a standard group tour.
The route, pace, breaks and level of support can be discussed before the hike, so the day feels realistic from the start.
How I Adapt the Trail for You and Your Family
Every person is unique, which is why these walks are entirely private. We go at your speed, on your terms.
The walk may include quiet time, rest stops, noticing the forest, listening to birds, adjusting the pace, talking through concerns, or simply spending time outside in a way that feels steady.
This is where Didier’s hiking and mentoring experience come together.
Sensory-Friendly Paths: I carefully select walking tracks that offer quiet, peaceful environments, away from busy crowds or overwhelming noise.
Custom Terrain Selection: From fully paved forest boardwalks under the Karri canopy to gentle coastal lookouts overlooking the ocean, I match the route to your specific mobility equipment or physical comfort level.
A Grounded, Patient Approach: As an experienced mentor and outdoor guide, I understand behavior, sensory overload, and the need for emotional safety on the trail. There is never any rush.
Iconic Locations, Safely Managed: Experience the famous Bibbulmun Track and local national parks with an insured, knowledgeable local practitioner who prioritizes your physical and emotional well-being every step of the way.
Guided by Didier’s hiking and mentoring experience
LifeTrail is guided by Didier Monot, a licensed hiking operator based in Denmark, Western Australia.
I have spent many years working in mentoring, youth support, disability support and psychosocial support, alongside thousands of kilometres of hiking experience on the Bibbulmun Track and other trails in the Great Southern.
That background helps me notice what people may need before, during and after a hike.
Sometimes that means slowing the pace.
Sometimes it means giving clearer instructions.
Sometimes it means choosing a quieter track.
Sometimes it means letting the person lead more of the experience.
Sometimes it means recognising that today is not the day to push further.
Good support is not about making a big deal of things. It is about paying attention.
Who these hikes may suit
Accessible and NDIS private hikes may suit:
- NDIS participants visiting Denmark, Walpole or the Great Southern
- Families looking for a supported outdoor activity during school holidays
- Young people who enjoy nature but need a calm, steady guide
- Adults who want to build confidence walking on trails
- People who find large group tours overwhelming
- Participants working towards community access, confidence, independence or wellbeing goals
- Families who want a shared experience that feels relaxed and manageable
- Support workers looking for a meaningful outdoor activity with a participant
The hike does not need to be big to be worthwhile.
A short, well-supported walk can be enough.
Visiting Denmark or Walpole?
Many families come to Denmark, Walpole and the Great Southern for a break, but still need activities that suit the person they are supporting.
A private guided hike can give you a way to experience the region without having to work everything out yourself.
Depending on suitability, hikes may take place around:
- Denmark
- Walpole
- The Valley of the Giants region
- Selected sections of the Bibbulmun Track
- Forest, coastal or inlet-side trails in the Great Southern
The exact route is chosen after a conversation, not from a fixed assumption.
The aim is to choose a walk that suits the person, the weather, the season and the level of support needed.
LifeTrail guides in three distinct environments around Denmark WA:

The Bibbulmun Track
Rhythmic, steady, and iconic. Long views, forest rhythm, and the quiet that only a 1000 km world-class long distance trail can offer. It guides it’s way through the forests and coast. You are part of something special and life changing.

South Coast and Sea Cliffs
Raw, salt-sprayed, and powerful. Where the Southern Ocean meets ancient granite and the horizon stretches without end. Empty beaches that most visitors never find.

Valley of the Giants and Tingle Forest
Silent, cathedral-like, and grounding. The world’s oldest tingle trees, including the famous Giant Tingle Tree on the Bibbulmun Track. Away from the crowds, in the pockets where the forest actually speaks.
How the hike can work
LifeTrail offers private guided hikes that can be adapted where appropriate.
3-hour private guided hike
A shorter option for people who want a gentle, supported introduction to walking in the forest or along the coast.
This may suit people who are new to hiking, visiting the region, building confidence, or needing a calmer experience with plenty of flexibility.
6-hour private guided hike
A longer option for people who are comfortable spending more time on the trail and want a deeper experience of the region.
This may suit participants or families who already enjoy walking, want a more complete day out, or are preparing for bigger hiking goals.
Before the hike
For accessible and NDIS-related bookings, it is best to contact LifeTrail before booking online.
This allows us to talk through:
- the participant’s walking ability
- previous hiking or bushwalking experience
- support needs
- sensory, anxiety or communication considerations
- medical or safety information relevant to the hike
- whether a parent, family member or support worker will attend
- the best length and location for the hike
- weather, clothing, footwear and what to bring
- invoicing or NDIS-related details where relevant
This conversation helps make the hike more
Using Your NDIS Funding
Because I operate as an independent, professional provider, many families successfully utilize their NDIS funding for these experiences.
If you are Self-Managed or Plan-Managed, my supported hikes can generally be aligned with standard community access, capacity building, or specialized holiday support line items. Following our walk, I provide a clear, itemized invoice with all the necessary details to make your reimbursement process seamless.
This is not a one-size-fits-all activity
Accessible does not mean every trail suits every person.
Many walks around Denmark and Walpole are natural bush tracks. They may include uneven ground, sand, roots, rocks, mud, slopes, steps, changing weather and limited phone reception.
That does not mean hiking is out of reach.
It means we need to choose carefully.
If a standard trail is not suitable, I will be honest about that. In some cases, we may choose a shorter walk, a gentler location or a different kind of outdoor experience. In other cases, the safest answer may be that LifeTrail is not the right fit for that person at that time.
Good support includes clear boundaries.
Support workers, parents and family members
A parent, family member or support worker can usually join the hike where appropriate.
For some participants, having a trusted person present makes the experience easier and more enjoyable.
For others, the hike may be part of building confidence and independence.
This can be discussed before booking so the support arrangement is clear.
LifeTrail does not assume what support should look like. The aim is to understand the person first, then plan the hike around what is realistic and safe.
Is this the right hike for you?
This may be a good fit if you are looking for:
- a private hiking experience rather than a public group tour
- a guide who understands disability and mentoring
- a calm outdoor activity while visiting Denmark or Walpole
- a supported experience for an NDIS participant
- a meaningful family activity in nature
- a gentle introduction to hiking
- a confidence-building walk on real trails
- a hiking experience that can be planned around the person
It may not be the right fit if the participant needs a fully wheelchair-accessible trail, significant personal care during the hike, medical support beyond LifeTrail’s role, or supervision needs that cannot be safely managed in a natural trail environment.
If you are unsure, the best place to start is a conversation.

Didier guided Jack a 62 year old gentleman with early onset Dementia over 1000 km within a 3.5 year period. It was something Jack loved and it put a smile on his face, Didier obviously loves what he is doing.
Karen — Guardian
My anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome stopped me from hiking alone. Didier planned a hike specifically for my needs, so I could experience what I loved.
