Private Guided Hiking in Denmark WA

I guide small groups through the forests, coast and tingle country around Denmark — at walking pace, in no hurry. A maximum of six people, and someone alongside you who’s walked nearly 3,000 km of this country and knows how to move through it.

You come for the walk. What the trail gives you beyond that is yours to find.

One hike. You choose the length.

Start with three hours or six. If we’re three hours in and you’re not ready to turn back, we keep walking — it’s your day, not a timetable. (my availability allowing)

Before your hike I’ll be in touch to understand what you’re after and design the day around you — the landscape, the pace, the intention. On the day, you show up. Everything else is taken care of.

LifeTrail guides in three distinct environments around Denmark WA:

The Bibbulmun Track

Rhythmic, steady, and iconic. Long views, forest rhythm, and the quiet that only a 1000 km world-class long distance trail can offer. It guides it’s way through the forests and coast. You are part of something special and life changing.

South Coast and Sea Cliffs

Raw, salt-sprayed, and powerful. Where the Southern Ocean meets ancient granite and the horizon stretches without end. Empty beaches that most visitors never find.

Valley of the Giants and Tingle Forest

Silent, cathedral-like, and grounding. The world’s oldest tingle trees, including the famous Giant Tingle Tree on the Bibbulmun Track. Away from the crowds, in the pockets where the forest actually speaks.

What to expect

Every hike is private and personally guided by me. We walk at a relaxed pace — around 3 km per hour — with time for rest, conversation and simply taking in where you are.

  • Your safety, physical and emotional, is the foundation everything else is built on
  • Small group, 2–6 people including children
  • Commercial Operator licence with the Department of Parks and Wildlife
  • Personal Locator Beacon and satellite phone on every hike
  • Nearly 3,000 km walked across this country, including a solo 68-day end-to-end of the Bibbulmun Track in 2016

Not sure which landscape fits where you are right now? Book, and we’ll work that out together.

What people take home

Didier has been a great help to me in getting organised for my hike. Giving me so much information. Answering all my crazy questions. He gives his time without hesitation 🙂

Heather — Prepare for a solo multiday hike

I completed a solo beginners over night trail with Didier along the beautiful Murray River. It was a great introduction to overnight hiking and Didier was very friendly and easy to ask questions about hiking along the Bibbulmun Track and hiking in general. I now feel a lot more confident in completing some more longer hikes on my own. I would highly recommend.

Mark – Future solo overnight hike

My anxiety and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome stopped me from hiking alone. Didier planned a hike specifically for my needs, so I could experience what I loved.

Anthony

As a nurse, my work hours can be all over the place, so I really needed something flexible that could fit around my schedule.

I wanted time outside, in nature away from the pressure of work, and a chance to slow down properly. Didier’s calm and friendly nature made the hiking relaxing.

Q&A

Hikefulness is my signature approach to guided hiking, blending commercial outdoor adventure with deep mindfulness and nature connection. On these private hikes through Denmark, Western Australia, I guide you along pristine coastal paths and ancient forests, moving at a pace that allows you to truly slow down, breathe, and ground yourself in the natural landscape.

I recommend wearing sturdy enclosed walking shoes or boots, weather-appropriate layered clothing, and bringing a small daypack with a water bottle, sun protection, and a waterproof jacket.

Because safety and mindfulness are my primary focuses, I handle all route navigation, risk management, and first aid preparation so you can fully immerse yourself in the journey. I will speak with you before a day hike to assist you to be ready for any weather and trail conditions.

Yes, absolutely. Every hike is private and tailored entirely to your personal pace and comfort level.

I am a deeply safety-focused, fully insured expert guide, meaning your journey through the wilderness is completely supported, secure, and managed under strict professional operator standards.

I am very experienced in guiding beginners and overcoming any barriers you may have.

Hikefulness®

“When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.”

Hikefulness® is the lack of judgement of anything — including discomfort. Slowing down. Observing. Allowing the experience or the feeling to occur, and growing from it. Rain, pain, fatigue, a wildflower, birdsong, leaves underfoot, a clearer conversation between two people — all given equal, unranked attention.

Most mindful hiking sells you only the beauty and the calm. Hikefulness® puts the discomfort in the same list. That’s the difference. It can happen anywhere, but out here — in nature, moving slowly — it becomes more intense, and it stays with you.

Before you come

What to bring

Pack light, but bring what you need for comfort and safety. What you’ll need depends on the hike, and I’ll guide you through it.

  • Comfortable non-slip walking shoes (trail shoes or runners)
  • Daypack — I have packs available if you need one
  • Hiking clothing (synthetic or wool is better; cotton stays wet, cold and heavy)
  • Rain jacket — we hike rain, hail or shine
  • Hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • 1–2 litres of water per person
  • Snacks or a light lunch, depending on the hike

Optional: walking poles, camera or phone, personal medication.

Weather

Rain and wind are part of the Great Southern, and part of the adventure. In extreme conditions, heat or high fire danger, the decision to reschedule or adjust the route is mine to make, for your safety. Denmark weather is changeable — dressing in layers is always best.

Fitness, pace and safety

Suitable for all fitness levels. We walk at a relaxed pace with time for rest and conversation. I carry a first-aid kit, PLB, satellite phone, navigation, emergency communication, and extra water and supplies. Your comfort and safety are always the priority, and the hike can be adjusted at any time.

Booking and cancellation

After booking you’ll receive a confirmation with a link to a short personal/medical form, then I’ll contact you directly to plan your hike. Please read the Terms of Booking and Participation before booking.
