Teen Multiday Hikes

This is a photo of LifeTrails (then Didier Walks) very special first teen hike in 2018, 5 days on The Bibbulmun Track from the Brookton Hwy to North Bannister.

"This isn’t a school camp — this is a real, multiday outdoor adventure you’ll remember forever." - Dion (16)

Hey Adventurer!

You’ll:
• walk through wild places,
• carry your gear,
• cook your own food,
• and move forward one day at a time under your own steam.

Some days will be challenging. Some days will feel incredible — and that mix is what makes these hikes unforgettable.

You don’t need to be the strongest or the fastest. You just need to be willing to:
• step outside your comfort zone,
• look after yourself,
• contribute to the group,
• and keep going when it gets tough.

Along the way, many teens discover:
• they’re tougher than they thought,
• friendships naturally form on the trail,
• confidence grows through challenge,
• finishing feels seriously rewarding.

If you want a genuine challenge, real independence, and an adventure you’ll remember long after it’s over — this hike could be for you.

You don’t have to have it all figured out — you just have to be willing to start. You won’t come back the same — and that’s the point.

What These Hikes Are

These are guided outdoor experiences for teens who enjoy the outdoors, group teamwork, and taking responsibility for themselves while on the trail.

These are real hikes — not programs or camps. Over multiple days you’ll:
• walk challenging terrain,
• carry your personal gear,
• cook meals together,
• and fully participate in life on the trail.

The focus is on:
• safety and preparedness,
• teamwork and respect,
• learning through real outdoor experience.

Guides support you to engage safely, while also giving space for confidence, independence, and resilience to grow through experience.

Take a peek inside our teen hikes

"Didier has helped me to realise that no matter how difficult something may seem, I can always find a way to do it. Going hiking with them has also really helped me be more outgoing and make more friends, and the incredible feeling you get when you reach the top of a difficult peak is really unmatched. All in all some of the best experiences I’ve had and I can’t wait to be able to go on another hike with them." - Ella (16) - 3 & 5 day hikes

Who These Hikes Are For

These hikes suit teens who can:
• participate safely in a guided group setting,
• manage their personal care and equipment,
• follow instructions and make reasonable decisions with guidance,
• engage respectfully with the group, the environment, and other hikers.

LifeTrail aims to be welcoming and inclusive. At the same time, Teen Hikes are delivered as guided outdoor experiences and are not disability support, mentoring, therapeutic, or personal care services.

Why Teens Love These Hikes

These hikes are genuine adventures — challenging, rewarding, and unforgettable.

Teens often enjoy:
• time away from screens and everyday pressure,
• spending days outdoors with others their age,
• making real friendships through shared challenges,
• discovering what they’re capable of,
• feeling proud of what they’ve achieved.

For many, this experience stays with them long after the hike ends.

Duke of Edinburgh Award Adventurous Journeys

These hikes are suitable for teens completing a Duke of Edinburgh Award Adventurous Journey.

Participants:
• set their own journey aim and purpose,
• take responsibility for meeting Award requirements,
• reflect on their personal experience along the way.

Many teens choose goals like building independence, confidence, fitness, and resilience — outcomes of the journey itself, not services delivered by the guide.

When a Hike May Not Be Suitable

If participation would require:
• ongoing individual supervision,
• personal or disability support,
• therapeutic intervention, or
• significant modification beyond what’s described,

then this hike may not be suitable in its standard format.

In some cases, a participant may attend with their own support person, who must be independently insured and able to meet the hike requirements.

If you’re unsure, please speak with Didier to explore options and clarify expectations.

Important
